Let’s create the third wave of poverty reduction

Which countries will do it next?

In the past quarter-century, China lifted more than 500 million people out of extreme poverty. India, where nearly 100 million people have risen above the poverty line in just over a decade. Mexico, South Africa, and others joined in too.

Now the question is: Can we create a third wave of poverty reduction in the rest of the world, and get close to eradicating extreme poverty?

I believe we can. Last month I gave a talk at our foundation’s annual Goalkeepers event where I told the story of the progress so far, the challenges that remain, and how we can solve them. I had fun working on the talk and hope you’ll enjoy it.
